moving

I hate packing... Just sayin'!
The big move day is in just one week. So much to do, so little energy and kid free time to do it in!

In other news ...

we're moving!
This blog name was based on our current house on Fernwood Cres.
I'm pondering a new blog address too.
We are moving to a hobby farm. When we decide on a name for the farm, then maybe I'll choose the blog name as the same.

Tired

So very tired these days. I'm up at least once in the night with Little Boy. But, it's not unusual to be up 5 times in the night.
The cause? Teething, loud noises (thanks neighbors) and LBs constant need to roll over and not being able to roll back with his sleep sack on.
And Big Boy won't let me nap very often.

Weekend is over!

Things I learned this weekend:
1. It's hard coming home from vacation. It feels like I need a vacation to recover!
2. Friday was one of the longest days of my life - traveling with a 3 year old and a baby can be torture! At one point 3 of us were crying in the car ... Poor hubby didn't know what to do, I don't think.
3. It takes a day to do all the laundry from said vacation for 4 people.
4. Apple Bread is delicious!
5. I sleep better without baby in my bedroom, and I think he does too.
6. Baby thinks biting me is funny ... I don't agree.
7. My hubby is seriously time challenged and I think it's getting worse.
8. The boy is more certainly allergic to dogs. He had another rash/hive reaction. Now do you think the family will believe me?
9. Antihistamine medicine tastes so good, The Boy will say he's itchy again in hopes that he will get another dose.
10. Aunt(1) is upset that her dogs aren't more important than The Boy and they have to go outside when he is in the house. (newsflash...the world does not revolve around you!) (wait...this isn't something I learned this weekend...sigh)
11. The boy needs to listen! He didn't and then he slipped and fell at the park and bruised his foot pretty bad.
12. He's not my kid ... The Boy went up to a girl at the park and said "you are overweight". She wasn't and he doesn't even know what that means! Where does he get this stuff?
13. Mommy is so overtired!

I had the absolutely worst day of my life ... And I'm not exaggerating!
But God is gracious and both of my precious boys are safe and healthy and sleeping (mostly) soundly.
I am looking forward to a new day tomorrow!

laughter

What is better than a baby laughing?
I can't think of anything!
In second place is the joy knowing you have a happy baby boy who is discovering his laugh for the first time.
(The bonus is that I made him laugh!)

Tonight

Tonight, on my way to bed ...
I check on BigBoy and he's sound asleep and snoring gently.
I check on LittleBoy and he's sound asleep and snoring the cutest little baby snore.
I must get to sleep before hubby comes to bed and perhaps starts snoring too.
Maybe I should invest in earplugs!

life status

I admit it.
I love being a stay at home Mom.
Beyond the recovery from childbirth, the shortage of sleep, the trials of disciplining a three year old ... It all comes down to looking back a the end of the day and realizing the smiles, the giggles, the books read, the endless love received.
And knowing that this is where God has placed me - to be the Mom of two precious boys and being blessed to get to spend the next 11 months or so with them.

Reality

Reality hits today.
Today is my first day all by myself. After breakfast, Daddy goes to work. Grandpa & Grandma head for home. That leaves me to take care of Caleb and Nathan and everything by myself.
A regular, ordinary day. One of many over the next year of maternity leave.
I pray we have a good start!

Mommy Moment

Two nights ago, The Boy woke up from a bad dream. He asked that I snuggle with him for a while. So, I laid there beside him and sang him to sleep.
Less than an hour later, I sang the same songs to his baby brother, putting him to sleep too.
It made this mommy smile.

colds

Bah ... Didn't avoid The Boy's cold.
Praying I get over this soon! And that baby hangs in there until my energy comes back.

The Boy's sick day

Poor little boy is sick. Not the dreaded Flu of this season (perhaps thanks to the flu shot we subjected him to in the fall), but he still was feeling pretty miserable. I was in snuggling with him twice in the night and Al was in once too. We were all pretty tired this morning ... But the boy was happy.
I let him stay in his pajamas all day long and watch his favourite shows on tv since he didn't feel like playing. Even Sid The Science Kid was on theme with a show about germs!
I think he's feeling a little better, but hopefully much better tomorrow.
And I hope I didn't catch his germs! I can't get sick with this baby in my tummy squishing my lungs! My hands are aching from all the washing.

Day 2

Day 2 of vacation started well but hasn't ended the best.

Caleb and I got our errands done this morning and rest time went well.

But when Al arrived home from work, he thought The Boy didn't look quite himself. By the time I returned from the chiropractor an hour later, The Boy had already tucked himself back into bed for a rest and then got up again. Strange. Supper went well, but you could tell that he wasn't feeling well and he said that his throat hurt.

Poor little guy hasn't slept well as of yet and I think it's going to be a long night. He wouldn't let me give him any Tylonal which would both help him sleep and help his throat! It's hard to reason with a three year old.

The other bad thing is that I catch everything that he does. And at 38 weeks I really really really don't want to get sick!!!!

Praying!

Monday

Usually my Monday posts would involve some kind of work rant or reference. Today's will be much different since I'm on ...

VACATION / MATERNITY LEAVE!!!!!!

woohoo!

Nice .. That's out of my system now. Can you tell that I'm delighted to be off work??

Today was a delightful day. I had an early doctor appointment in which I got to hear baby's heartbeat. I had fun with The Boy. A nice nap was had in the afternoon. And I surprised my Sweetie with fresh homemade chocolate chip cookie for dessert (which I never seemed to have time to make lately). What can be better than that kind of day?

Monday

I do dislike starting the week annoyed and frustrated at almost everyone in my path.  It's going to be a long day!  Lord, give me strength!

Lots to do today both at work and at home.

Only 5 days to get ready for the work audit (I estimate I probably need more like 10 days).
I start training my replacement tomorrow.
Just 14 working days until I'm off on leave.
Is it possible to want the 5 days to prepare to stretch out indefinitely, but the 14 days to merge into one so I can get out of here?  :)

Only 5 weeks until baby's due date.  Lots of details to get worked out before then.  Nothing too difficult, but a long list.  If baby came today, there are some clothes washed and ready, diapers that will (likely) fit, a place to sleep and people that will help out with Caleb.

I'm tired just thinking about everything that needs to be done.

On the plus side, I have a doctor's appointment in a half hour which means that I get to hear baby's heartbeat!

Back to You

This past Christmas, my choir joined with the orchestra and drama team to do a production called "Back to You".
I had a solo in it too!
If you are interested in checking it out, go to this website and click on the December 16th Presentation.  My solo is in around the 43 minute mark.

"sick" day - part 3

I did it ... I called in "sick" again today.
While I'm feeling not too bad.  I had waves of nausea wash over me when I thought of going into the office today.
So, I'm home again ... hanging out with The Boy.

He's currently "reading" a book
which he now wants me to actually read the right words .... be back!

edit:
He changed his mind and wanted to watch Sesame Street instead.  Grover is singing! lol

Before lunch we'll play with some playdoh perhaps!

Lunch ... Thomas Train ... then nap time.

"sick" day - part 2

It was a good rest of the day.
The boy had a nap instead of just a rest time this afternoon.  The house was quiet.  I had a nap too.
And it was wonderful!
Al came home a little early and we had supper together then chatted and played with Caleb until bedtime.
It was such a good "mental health" day that I'm seriously considering another one for tomorrow!
... no ... seriously! :)

"sick" day

I'm home today on a "sick" day.  I like to call it a "mental health" day.
I went to the office ... but something I saw in my office made me turn around and leave.  It doesn't matter what it was ... it's mostly that I work with some inconsiderate unthinking people and I couldn't handle it today.
I picked up my briefcase, snack bag and purse and left.  I'm always the first one in ... so no one even knew I was there.
I'll see how today goes and decide if tomorrow will be another day off.  I seriously can.not.wait for my maternity leave to start!  Only 6 weeks to go!

So, I'm hanging out with the little boy today instead - which is so much more fun!

We've played on the Thomas The Train website, done 2 big floor puzzles, played on our respective electronic devices (LeapPad for him, new smartphone app for me) and now I'm catching up on some computer stuff while he distracts me with random songs from his LeapPad.
Soon I'll break out some water paints that he hasn't tried before and we'll try that out before lunch time.
This afternoon he'll watch Thomas and then head off for a rest time for the majority of the afternoon.  That will give me lots of "me" time.  Maybe I'll work on some art for the baby room or clean up this office area.

Friends

In the past 2 weeks, two of my friends have confided in me for different health reasons.
Both are pretty big things ... one potentially life threatening ... one definitely life changing.  Both are not sharing their news with the world yet until more information is available.
I find myself distracted with how my friends are doing.  In the midst of *everything on my plate right now ... all I want to do is talk with them and with God about everything in their world.
I'm so thankful that they are both God's children and I know that my prayers are being heard.  God knows the roads they need to travel.  I'm thankful for His guidance ... and that I can be a part of their journey.

30 weeks!

It's so hard to believe that I'm 30 weeks already!
Time has just flown by.  I'm excited about baby coming and we're busily making changes in our house to make it a home for 4 instead of 3.
Some scheduling things?
6 weeks until work audit
8 weeks until I'm DONE work and start my vacation before baby comes.
10 weeks until baby is due to come.
Somehow saying 30 weeks pregnant is so much further along than 29 weeks!
